Caribean Queen
Posted in: This Week In Music
This week in 1984, Billy Ocean’s hit song “Caribean Queen” hit #1 on the U.S. singles chart, and stayed there for two weeks.
The song was originally titled “European Queen”, but was later changed to the title we’re familiar with.
Billy Ocean (whose real name is Leslie Charles) was born in Trinidad on January 21, 1950. He was one of the first Caribean singers to be embraced by MTV, and had a string of top 10 hits, including “Love Is Forever” “When The Going Gets Tough” and “Get Out Of My Dreams (And Into My Car”.
Enjoy the music!
