It’s Gary Busey’s 66 birthday today, here’s a shot of his family . . .

Where’s George when you need him?

And with the hot weather my mind is on the beach . . .

Well, it was a nice run for the USA soccer team, but its World Cup hopes ended with Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Ghana.

I’m not a huge soccer fan. I don’t dislike the sport; in fact, I rather admire the athletes who play it. I’m just not one who will sit down and watch it on a regular basis. But it’s amazing how one event, one sport, and one team can bring out the kind of interest the USA soccer team did. Everyone from blue collar workers to housewives cheered their hearts out, praying for miracles and shedding tears after the final match for the U.S.

I can’t help but compare the World Cup event to the Summer or Winter Olympics. It’s every four years, athletes get to represent their country in a worldwide competition, and people who aren’t normally fans of this event lend their support to the team.

Will I suddenly become addicted to soccer, and watch every match I can find? Not likely. But like so many others, my heart dropped when Ghana scored what turned out to be the winning goal in overtime, and the USA Team’s run came to an end. This year’s World Cup has certainly given us some bittersweet memories.

I have always loved tennis, and this is the time of year for it!  I usually spend my 4th of July weekend glued to the tv watching the Wimbledon finals.   The last time I played tennis myself was in high school on the tennis team.  Those days are long gone, but when Loriana Hernandez and Fox 7 asked me to participate in the Dell Fox Get Fit Weekend to benefit Maggies Hope and organization helping families of children experiencing Austism , I said yes!   It was time to get off the couch and instead of watching tennis, begin playing again.

Loriana and I will be playing in the Tennis Classic on Saturday July 24th at 1pm at The Lakeway World of Tennis! We will be teamed up with tennis star’s Melanie Oudin and Sloane Stephens!  I knew I had to get to work and what better way then to head to Horseshoe Bay for some cardio tennis!!  Wow this workout is incredible and I felt the effects for day’s!  Check out the video to see what this challenging class is all about!  One of the best things is that it is free!!

One of the things I have discovered while getting ready for this fun and challenging Tennis Classic is how much I really love playing tennis!  It’s great to be getting back into it, the benifits are amazing!  Find out more about the Horseshoe Bay cardio tennis class and more places in and around Austin to “Get Fit For Free” here!  See you next month at The Lakeway World of Tennis!!  Buy your tickets to this special event here!

The longest tennis match in Wimbledon history just ended.  It only took 11 hours and 5 mintues but the John Isner of the USA won.  He beat Nicolas Mahut of France.  The final score was 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (3), 70-68!!  Amazing!!  The longest tennis match prior to this one was at the French Open , that one lasted 6 hours 33 minutes back in 2004!!  The 5th set of this match lasted 8 hours and 11 minutes, one for the history books!!

Maybe Sandra should enter our Sing Like John Mayer contest!!

Sandra Bullock strapped on a guitar and teased the audience at last nights “Nashville Rising” a star studded show that helped raise 2 million dollars for the flood victims in Nashville.  Though she just played a few notes on the guitar, it brought the house down!  She may not have a Grammy in her future but she does have that Oscar, and a huge heart!  Check out the video below!
